Elisa Fernández Rei

I am a lecturer in the Galician Philology Department of the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. I completed a B.A. degree in Galician Philology in 1992 and obtained the title of doctor in 2002. I have been in ILG since 1991, first on an intern grant and subsequently as an employee until I joined the Scientific Committee when I was awarded my doctorate. At present I am a member of the the ILG's Standing Committee.

My research interests focus on Galician intonation and prosody, as well as linguistic change and language contact. I am part of the directing board of AMPER (Atlas Multimédia Prosodique de l’Espace Roman) and since 2003 I have been the coordinator of the team responsible for the Galician part of this international project. I have also participated, in some cases as principal investigator (IP), in several research projects related to the field of phonetics, prosody, intonation, language change and Galician-Spanish contact.

I have been a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Estudos de Lingüística Galega since its foundation in 2008, and have been this journal’s secretary since 2018.
